Embracing the Spirit of Lent and Love

On this Ash Wednesday (2024), Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, shared a powerful message during a Holy Mass. He encourages us to use the beginning of Lent as an opportunity to deepen our prayers and show Christ-like love.

Professor Anieke emphasizes the significance of this special year, highlighting the events as manifestations of God’s grace and love.  Let’s take a moment to reflect on the true essence of Valentine’s Day – a celebration of love and selflessness.

In his homily, he warns against reducing love to mere physicality, urging us to embrace the deeper meaning. As we embark on this Lenten journey, let’s be mindful of our actions in private, steering clear of mischievous influences and attention-seeking behaviours.

The priest calls for introspection during this Lenten season, emphasizing the need to draw closer to God.  Let’s use this time to reflect, pray, and strengthen our connection with the divine.
