DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE, GOUNI GOES ON EXCURSION TO ANAMMCO

The Department of Architecture, under the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences of Godfrey Okoye University, Thinker’s Corner Enugu, on 15 January 2020, embarked on an excursion to the popular construction, assembling, consulting and training industry, ANAMMCO (Anambra Motor Manufacturing Company) located at Emene, Enugu, Enugu State.

The students were led by the Ag. Dean of Natural and Applied Sciences of the University, Ass. Prof. Marian Unachukwu, the Head of Department of Architecture, Architect Favor Ononuju and some lecturers of the Department. 

On arrival, the students were welcomed by a staff of the company who took round the buildings with state- of – the – art equipment and machinery installed in strategic positions and operated by experts.

As they went through the various sections of the buildings, they were received by a guide who gave the students detailed lectures on the step by step processes involved in the assembling of automobiles. The students watched in excitement as an automobile was being assembled, paying attention and asking questions at intervals.

ANAMMCO is a Nigerian commercial Vehicle company which specializes in assembling of automobiles (trucks, coaches and city buses) for the whole of West Africa. It is also a consulting firm that provides solutions to operation and structural situations and circumstances. 

In an interview with the Head of Department of Architecture, Godfrey Okoye University, Architect Favour Ononuju, the HoD said that the experience was enlightening as it enabled the students to witness, first hand, all that was taught in the classroom. They got to see in real life all that had been left to the imagination. She expressed gratitude to the management of the GO-Uni for encouraging an enabling environment for field work and practical experience. 

 The Department is planning another field outing in the next semester.
