School of Nursing To Commence at the Main Campus of Godfrey Okoye University

A School of nursing and formal academic activities will resume at the main campus of Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu Nike Enugu as from October this year.

Similarly, any new academic programme as well as major events of the institution will henceforth be held at the main campus of the university

A statement by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Godwin Umeh says the Vice Chancellor of the university, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, announced this during a staff retreat to flag off the 20223/2024 academic session of the institution, explained that the decision was to speed up the development of the main campus.

Reverend Father Professor Anieke also announced that the faculties have provided smart classrooms. He urged the staff to brace up for challenge, and not allow the situation in the country to affect their determination to impact quality education in the students.

He revealed that Reverend Father Casmir Nwokolo has been appointed the new Dean, of Students Affairs of the university.

Rev. Fr. Casmir Nwokolo, who conducted the retreat, urged the Staff to be civil in relating with their colleagues.

“You should work on your problems and avoid allowing them to affect other people”. Frustration can force a person to do negative things and you do not need to do strange things to make a difference, Fr. Nwokolo said.

“Avoid spreading gossip that can tarnish people’s characters. If you do not want to be judged, you should not judge others, the Priest stated.

He urged the workers to strive always to make a difference in their work place and avoid discrimination, be team players as well as develop positive mental attitude that would motivate other people.

According to Reverend Father Nwokolo, the workers should be persistent in prayers so as to overcome temptations and worries.

He frowned at the attitude of many Nigerian youths who he noted are no longer interested in learning practical skills but are after easy ways to acquire wealth.

In a comment, the Dean, Faculty of Education, Professor Uche Agwaga noted with regrets that many parents do not encourage their children and wards to study education courses and attributed the problem to the poor attitude of the government and the society towards teachers and education.

In a remark, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Sister Prof. Marysylvia Nwachukwu explained that the retreat was to prepare the workers spiritually for the new academic year and urged the workers to strive for excellence in their various fields.

The retreat was attended by the principal officers, Dean’s, Directors, heads of departments and other officials of the University.

Students of the University and its group of institutions are expected to return to campus on the 3rd of October this year to commence their 2023-2024 academic year.
