Since the inception of Godfrey Okoye University Radio (the heartbeat of dialogue), 2015 it has been everywhere performing at its peak.

Godfrey Okoye university radio 106.9 FM obtained her license and began operation on the 21st of October, 2015 through the effort of our formidable Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Christian Anieke supported by the Senate of the University.

After one year of operation Godfrey Okoye University has emerged the best campus radio in Nigeria in the campus/online category of the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Award recently held at the  Barcelona Hotel in  Abuja, Nigeria. Other nominees of the award were search FM, Lumen FM, Diamond FM, ESUT FM, Caritas FM, NOUN FM, University of Benin FM and Kasui FM.

The achievement of GO Uni. Radio 106.9 FM came as a result of the efficient use of the sophisticated equipment’s, infrastructures and staff strength directed by the management to proper use.

The Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Christian Anieke, while receiving the award  said that the success of GO Uni. Radio can be attributed to hard work of the management and staff of the Radio Station, he also called on the university community to learn from the example set by the GO Uni. Radio.

In a press briefing on the 2nd of March, 2016 the Vice Chancellor commended the GO Uni. Radio Staff members for the great feat they achieved, he explained that the University Radio is a training ground for the students of Mass Communications Department.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edwin Onyeneje congratulated the Management of the Go Uni. Radio for the priceless award to their credit, he also appreciated the Vice Chancellor for his total support and encouragements to the GO Uni. Radio Station.

The Registrar, Dr. Nnamdi. Ene encouraged the Campus Radio Station to keep up with the good work and always remain in front.

In a closing remark the coordinator of Mass Communication Department Dr. Regina Acholonu appreciated the effort of the Vice Chancellor towards the achievement of the award; she further stated that the vice chancellor spurred them to action through his profound support leading to the success being celebrated. She thanked the Dean of the faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Rev. Sr. ProF. Gloria Njoku for her motivational support.

The closing prayer was said by the director of academic planning Unit of the University, Rev. Fr. Dr. Ikechukwu Ani.
