VC GOU FLAGS OFF 2021/2022 ACADEMIC YEAR WITH PROMISE OF HANDSOME AWARDS FOR QUALITY RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

The vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye university Reverend father Professor Christian Anieke has announced a reward of one million naira for any individual or group research that attracts international attension.Similarly, Rev. Fr. Professor Anieke says any student of the computer science department that develops a programme that can solve any of the difficult problems facing the institution and would be internationally accepted, will receive a prize of N500,000. “If any of you can develop an App that can dictate and show the location of lecturers, or students who miss lectures or workers who abandon their duty posts will receive the amount, the VC stated. The Vice Chancellor reminded the public that the university is the first in Africa where European new deveopment plan will start, stressing that the project had commenced with the take off of the construction of the European park at the Ugwuomu campus of the university.According to Rev. Fr. Prof. Anieke, over 50 graduates of the university are studying in foreign institutions on scholarship from partner institutionsHe said that because of the situation in the country, lectures in the university will now take place from Tuesdays to Saturdays, adding that the management of the university were determined to ensure that students of the institution graduated at stipulated time.The Vice Chancellor explained that the introduction of Vice Chancellor for one day was to encourage competition and excellence, stating that Provost for One Day would be introduced for the institute of Ecumenical Education, an arm of Godfrey Okoye University and its group of institutions responsible for the training of National Certificate in Education and National Teachers Registration Council members.He made it clear that the management of the institutions would not tolerate any form of harassment, extortion or use of harsh words on students or staff, stressing that the institutions have zero tolerance to cultism, examination malpractice, and other social evils.Prof. Anieke encouraged workers and students of the university to place wisdom and the knowledge of God above all things in their activities this academic year.The Vice Chancellor who made the remark at an event to mark the commencement of the new academic Session advised staff and lecturers to pursue wisdom in all their activities including their research, stressing that there is a relationship between good teaching and good research.The deputy vice Chancellor Sister Professor MarySylvia Nwachukwu in her address, welcomed the students back on campus and urged them to stay away from bad peer influence adding that they should ensure that they register their courses.The COHON president of the university, Enenta success who on behalf of the student council of honour, welcomed the new and returning students back on campus and urged them to stay focus in the academic year.In their individual address, the Deans of the school of Post Graduate Studies, Faculties of management and social sciences, Arts, Education, Natural Sciences and Environmental Studies, commended the students for choosing Godfrey Okoye University as their place of study and admonished them to adhere to the rules and regulations of the institutions.Earlier during a Holy mass to mark the commencement of the academic year, the University bursar Dr Mrs. Modesta Eguyi expressed gratitude to God for making it possible for her to complete her Doctor of philosophy in Accountancy degree.From Godwin Umeh, PRO
