Research Interest

My research interest revolves around understanding the molecular basis of infectious diseases such as malaria, as well as communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Assessment of the performance of diagnostic tools and development of new ones to control infectious diseases is another area of interest.  Understanding malaria parasite drug resistance and its contribution to antimalarial drug efficacy. Understanding co-infection between non-communicable and infectious diseases and the implicated molecular markers. Identification of molecular markers that may promote diseases or affect treatment efficacy towards achieving the goal of personalized medicine.
